They asked me a significant amount about my experience with Critical Language Scholarship (CLS), to which I told them about it, and discussed my role as a CLS Alumni Ambassador. I additionally talked about my experience TAing for a college Spanish class and my volunteer experience in Barcelona when I worked with elementary school students to help them with their English. They asked me why I was interested in JET and also, knowing that JET is a competitive program, what my back up plans were. There was no teaching component to my interview and the Japanese section was pretty brief. In Japanese, they asked me for an introduction. After I answered, they asked if I preferred cities or rural towns that have historical significance. From talking to other students in DC who had the interview, they often ask students to read a passage in Japanese, however I was not asked to do so. The total interview lasted 20 minutes, it felt like it went by really fast since they had a lot of questions and I had long answers. They had a few minutes at the end for me to ask questions, which I went prepared with.
