1) Register for the General GRE and plan to take it about a month from today. See notes from Day 1 about fee waivers, accommodations, etc.

In a day you will start doing some homework to get ready. Before that, we're having you read some advice about how to tackle standardized testing to best advantage, since for some people exam-taking is as big an issue as actually doing the physics.
2) Do you ever freak out and lose confidence when taking exams? There are ways to reprogram yourself to turn that nervous energy to your advantage!
Read this article (you should be able to access it for free on campus or with VPN, but it's also findable via Tripod: "How to be a better test taker" by Annie Murphy Paul (The New York Times, 2012-04-15) about how to do a better job taking tests. Are they describing you? If so, then remember to try out this tension-reducing technique the next time you take an exam, like our practice exams.
Keep this advice in a safe place so you can access it when you need it until you've internalized whether this works for you or not!
3) Click the "Add submission" button, type a note stating you have completed the above (e.g. "Completed"), then click on "Save Changes".
